Location
The park is located right in the heart of the Kamchatka peninsula and consists of mountainous areas as well as of parts of the western lowlands. Esso is located at a height of 500 m.
Foundation
The park was founded in 1995.
Surface area
1.325.000 ha - the biggest nature park on Kamchatka and one of the biggest protected areas in the Russian Federation.
Protective status
Since 1996 - UNESCO world nature heritage
Aims
Connecting people, nature and culture; environmental education; preservation of reindeer pastures as well as reindeer breeding; developing of touristic infrastrucure; carrying out of environmental monitoring, scientific research; protection of nature and species.
Special features
Volcanoes, meadows, tundra, valleys, hot thermal springs, a big diversity of landscape types as well as species - the park is like a small scale model of Kamchatka.

Ichinsky - 3607 m

Esso (2.000 inhabitants), Anavgai (ca. 650 inhabitants)
