The Bystrinsky Nature Park is
situated in the central part of Kamchatka.
This has certain concequences:
Firstly, in our region we have less rainfall than in other regions
of Kamtchatka. As a result the Bystrinky region is the place in
Kamtchatka with the most sunny days.
Secondly our region has a bigger temperature amplitude than other
regions in Kamtchatka. Caused by the geographical position of
Kamchatka at the Pacific ocean, temperatures during one year are not as extreme as in parts of Sibiria. But on Kamchatka's east-coast a cold stream from the north
is flowing all year round. Therefore Kamchatka,
being on the same latitude as central Europe, has a
tougher climate (for example
no more than 5 months of plant growing).
Consequently, outdoor agriculture is
almost impossible.

The climate contains typical elements of the Tundra- and Taiga regions. In Esso
which is about 500m over sea level, the mean temperature is -3.4 degrees
Celsius. In the three months of summer, June, July and August, the mean temperature is about 15 degrees
Celsius with daily temperatures about 30 to 35 degrees
Celsius, like in central Europe. From
September on the temperatures fall dramatically. September is the only real autumn month.
The whole flora shows
its fantastic colors. In October
usually the first snow appears and
around the middle of October snow
does not melt anymore - winter begins!
In November the mean temperature
usually reaches -12 degrees
Celsius. In central Europe for example the coldest month of the year never
has a deeper mean temperature than -5 degrees
Celsus.
December, January and February are the coldest months of the year with a mean of about -20 degrees
Celsius. The snow finally starts melting
in May.
The rain fall during one year is
dependend on cyclonatic activity. During the three summer months half of the
yearly rain fall
occurs, around 200mm.
The mean rain fall comes to 400mm.
